Just a slow and steady climb. 𝐒𝐓𝐈 $STI(STI.SI) ended the week on a high note, finally mustering enough strength to close above the 3900 level with a quiet confidence. After several weeks of sideways drift, this week saw a similar gentle yet meaningful upside, rising from 3871 to 3933 on the last day of the week. For now, the STI seems to have found its footing, and maybe, just maybe, is lacing up for more.

𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞, 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥!

The highlight of the week was 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐃𝐞𝐯 (𝐂𝟎𝟗), $CityDev(C09.SI) which announced the landmark divestment of its iconic South Beach Development to IOI Properties Group for S$2.75B, the largest in its history. The stock surged to a week high of 5.27 before closing at $5.25, recording a strong weekly gain of 8.5%

𝐍𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐲𝐞𝐭, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭!

Privatisation chatter has been making waves on the SGX, with both 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 (𝐉𝐋𝐁) $Grand Venture(JLB.SI) and 𝐀𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 (𝐙𝐗𝐘) $Alpina Holdings(ZXY.SI) announcing that they are in discussions on a potential transaction that could lead to a share offer. However, both were quick to add the usual caveat that there’s no certainty that these talks will come to fruition. Grand Venture added fuel to the fire with a strong set of 1Q25 results, (27.7% YoY jump in earnings). Investors didn’t wait. Both stocks gapped up and surged 10.7% and 10% respectively, hitting multi-year highs.

𝐀𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡. 𝐍𝐨 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞!

Not sure when I’ll stop mentioning 𝐒𝐈𝐀 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐠 (𝐒𝟓𝟗) $SIA Engineering(S59.SI) , but for the 4th week in a row, it surged another 8.9%, breaking its 3-year high to hit $2.98. While not as explosive as SIA Engg, 𝐒𝐓 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐠 (𝐒𝟔𝟑) $ST Engineering(S63.SI) is quietly making baby-step strides, refreshing its ATH to $8.02. Since releasing its earnings last week,  𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐒 (𝐒𝟓𝟖) $SATS(S58.SI) has been on an upward trend. A bit of a bumpy ride, but it still managed to hit a high of $3.16, the highest since 6 March.

𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬

𝐘𝐙𝐉 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐁𝐒𝟔) $YZJ Shipbldg SGD(BS6.SI) saw a resurgence this week, climbing 8%. After drifting sideways since early April, it's now starting to poke its bow above the consolidation range, suggesting a potential breakout may be on the horizon. 𝐂𝐒𝐄 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 (𝟓𝟒𝟒) $CSE Global(544.SI) powered ahead, surging from $0.44 to $0.475 on Thursday with heavier-than-usual volume. The uptrend continued into Friday, wrapping the week up 11.7% higher, showing strong momentum at its stern. 𝐊𝐞𝐩 𝐃𝐂 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐓 (𝐀𝐉𝐁𝐔) $Keppel DC Reit(AJBU.SI) also logged some upside on Friday, buoyed by news of its re-entry into STI, a move that may just plug it back into the institutional radar.

*Musk Meltdown “Trumped” Market!*

Yes. Pun intended, 100%! 😂

Markets ended last night a little bruised and bruisier, no thanks to a dramatic Tesla nosedive. The EV giant tanked over 14%, wiping out a jaw-dropping $150B in value, mainly due to an escalating Musk-vs-Trump showdown. Musk slammed Trump’s tax cuts; Trump fired back, claiming Elon’s just salty over lost EV subsidies. Outside the drama, some good news tried to poke through. In a much anticipated event, Trump and Xi exchanged diplomatic pleasantries and invitations, hinting at thawing trade tensions. Still, with recent scuffles over critical minerals and a backdrop of sluggish private payrolls and services data, investors were too cautious to pop the champagne. Jobless claims crept higher, the Fed looks likely to stay on pause (despite pressure from Trump to cut), and volatility continues to be the market’s favorite accessory this season.

Now all eyes would be on Friday’s jobs report, for better or for worse. Brace up!

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠?

Despite STI only up 14 points yesterday, there were many positives in the market. *City Dev, SATS, YZJ Shipbuilding* were all up significantly. *Singapore Paincare* privatisation offer was 16 cents, but it closed at $0.170 yesterday, going as high as $0.176, suggesting something may be brewing there.

But what really caught my attention is *CSE Global*, which is an AI-theme beneficiary as it powers mega data centres. A big surge on heavy-than-usual volume may suggest something is also brewing there. The 2-year high is $0.495. It closed at 0.47, up 3c (6.8%).

Special mention to renewable bros, *Keppel* and *Sembcorp*, who both saw a 2% gain each yesterday.

Look out for *Kep DC REIT* also as it will replace Jardine C&C in the STI review. Potential portfolio rebalancing may see Keppel DC REIT rising and Jardine C&C dropping in the coming 1-2 weeks leading to the effective date. The change will take effect on 23 Jun.

Do cast a light on *OCBC* as well as it seeks to privatised Great Eastern.

𝐔𝐒 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬

— *Tesla* dropped more than 14% in heavy trading as the public feud between CEO Elon Musk and Trump intensified. The stock has fallen four out of the last five sessions. The company lost about $150 billion in value after Trump and Musk began their verbal war.

— *Brown-Forman* fell almost 18% after the Jack Daniel's maker forecast a decline in annual revenue andprofit.

— *Procter & Gamble* said it will cut 7,000 jobs, or about 6% of its workforce, over the next two years in a restructuring. Shares of the consumer goods bellwether fell 1.9%.

— *Five Below* rose after the chain of specialty discount stores reported better-than-expected first-quarter results and issued a solid second-quarter guidance, helped by broad-based strength across most merchandising categories.

— *MongoDB* surged after the database software company gave an upbeat annual forecast and reported quarterly results above estimates, while expanding its share repurchase plan.

*After-hours movers:*

— *Broadcom* fell 2.4% after reporting second quarter results and guidance that were in-line with consensus, disappointing bulls expecting upside. Q2 AI revenue grew 46% year-over-year to over $4.4 billion.

— *lululemon athletica* fell 17% after it published guidance that was significantly below consensus expectations.

— *Rocket Lab USA* rose 4% after Elon Musk’s feud with Donald Trump lifted SpaceX competitors.

— *Samsara* fell 11% despite reporting better than expected quarterly results and guidance.

— *Rubrik* rose 6.5% after quarterly results topped consensus. First quarter subscription ARR grew 38% year-over-year to $1.18 billion and first quarter revenue grew 49% year-over-year to $278.5 million.

— *Braze*  fell 8.6% after it lowered full year EPS guidance.
